shanghai observer: sep deputy president guo baohong interviewed by jiefang daily
on june 20, sep deputy president guo baohong received a joint interview by reporters with jiefang daily and huangpu news.
guo told reporters the historical changes of electricity industry in shanghai and the human scenery along the huangpu river by way of his own career path and life experience. he pointed out that shanghai is the third city in the world that had electricity, and that sep, whose history could be traced back to 1882, serves both the witness and participant of this development history. originating from the first electric arc lamp beside the garden bridge of shanghai, sep has developed into an electricity enterprise with a total installed capacity of 9804.9 mw among which new energy installed capacity amounted to 1256.1 mw. starting from supplying electricity and heat to local consumers in shanghai to developing businesses in around 20 provinces and municipalities in china as well as 19 countries overseas, sep has thoroughly remoulded itself as a century-old enterprise and is now undergoing the transformation and upgrading of the enterprise, evolving from a traditional thermal power generation enterprise to an advanced energy group integrating clean coal-fired power, gas-fired power, pv power and wind power generation together with distributed new energy and integrated smart energy supply.
a number of sep's power plants located along the huangpu river, such as nanshi power plant, yangshupu power plant, wujing thermal power plant and minhang power plant, had once made historic contributions to the economic and social development of shanghai, especially with contributions to the success of the shanghai world expo 2010 and the city transformation of shanghai, said guo. it is the awareness of overall situation and the spirit of dedication of sep and its whole staff that provided space for the completion of the scenic route spanning 45 kilometers along the huangpu river today.
guo also introduced the development strategy of sep and its parent company spic to reporters, focusing on the company's "1234" development strategy, the objective of "building another sep by 2020" and the corporate culture of "inheritance, innovation and excellence".
